Celebrity Status is a new feature in The Sims 3: Late Night. Sims can attempt to achieve celebrity status by doing things such as bragging about their mixology (bartending) skills, or through playing gigs with a band. It also involves having good relationships with already existing celebrities. Celebrity NPC's are distinguished by having a gold star over their heads. If a conversation with a celebrity goes well, a Sim could then leech off the celebrity's fame.
With enough celebrity status, Sims can access a housing development which is located across a bridge, and which features large houses sitting in low-lying hills.
It also helps if a Sim's wish happens to be to act in or direct a film, which can be done on the city's movie set. Being famous also means a Sim can get free drinks and access to exclusive bars and clubs where other celebrity types hang out. The downside appears when celebrity Sims are harrassed by the Paparazzi NPC's, which results in a relationship drop with said Sim[1].
