== The Sims ==

 

With ''[[The Sims: Unleashed]]'', a bored [[dog]] may dig holes. Since vacationing families take their pets with them, there's a slight chance that a dog will dig something up while on [[Vacation Island]], but it's unlikely.

There is a random chance that Sims will burst the water main while digging. If this happens, the Sim will run around and panic while the busted water main creates puddles and lowers the environment score. The only way to fix the busted main is to have a Sim fill the hole in. The hole does not need to be entirely filled in to stop the leak, however; filling the hole until it decreases in size once is enough. If the puddles are left unmopped, they will eventually cause weeds to grow.

 

 

[[Dog]]s can also dig holes in the yard if ''[[The Sims 2: Pets|Pets]]'' is installed, although dogs cannot find treasure or burst water pipes. Sims can continue digging from such holes like normal, however.

Digging was reintroduced in ''[[The Sims 4]]'' and permitted Sims to dig up a variety of [[File:Sims 4 digging.png|thumb|A Sim digging in ''The Sims 4'']]metals, trophies, crystals, and fossils.<ref>http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/collections/</ref> Unlike previous games, Sims do not dig in the ground with a shovel, but instead break particular rocks with a hammer and chisel to find collectibles. If a Sim finds a treasure map and keeps it in their inventory, they will gain the option to 'Dig for Treasure'. Digging for treasure will always result in the Sim finding a MySims trophy. Digging for collectibles is a key aspect of the Nature [[Aspiration (The Sims 4)|aspiration]] 'The Curator', and Sims with this aspiration will often have [[whim]]s to do so.
