Chapter 1[edit | edit source]

"It's too dark to play out tonight," said Mother. "School tomorrow."

"Mom, do I really have to go to school? I don't like it," said Miranda, quietly brushing her teeth.

Miranda brushed her teeth in pink PJs. She was assigned to go to a high school named Country Academy, and she was scared. Miranda was a freshman, and she had never been to a high school before. This was her first time. Even worse, she had never been to a boarding school, and that meant that she had to live away from home.

Miranda didn't know much about Country Academy, but she got assigned there after her parents invited the headmaster to a posh dinner party. Her parents loved being posh and they bragged about it because Miranda was very rich. But she did not understand why it was all about money and clothes that made a family posh. She just wanted to spend some time alone, but her crazy 7-year old sister did not understand.

Miranda had a younger sister named Ruby, who was 7. Ruby was a bit of a brat and she was one of the girls who adults love, but other children hate because they snitch on their older sisters and brothers. Ruby had won first place in the dancing competition, and her family boasted about it when talking with other families. She always tidied her room and folded her clothes and read her books and laid the table and helped with the cooking and all sorts of things. Miranda was a little bit upset because her parents picked on Ruby more, and Miranda felt left out.

Miranda was happy about moving away from home because Ruby still went to an elementary school, and Miranda was now a 14 year old in high school. She was finally able to ditch Ruby and not get grounded from playing out or playing games on the computer. Ruby wasn't that type. You can safely say that she wasn't fun. Ruby had told on Miranda because Miranda was playing out with neighbourhood kids from the street. Miranda hated that.

Chapter 2[edit | edit source]

Miranda woke up in her bedroom. She had so many dreams about her school. She was about to have another dream, but she got interrupted after Ruby pretended to cry just for her parents to wake up.

Miranda hated it when Ruby did this. Miranda wanted to have dreams, and then she gets interrupted at 6 in the morning. Miranda groaned and made her bed. She went outside and she saw Father holding a large brown box. Miranda brushed her teeth and ate her oat cereal then opened the box. Inside of the box was Miranda's school uniform, which was a t-shirt, a green tartan miniskirt, white high socks and black high heels. Miranda tried it on. Her parents thought that she looked perfect, but Ruby pretended to clap and mumbled to herself "Miranda looks fat in her clothes."

Ruby and Miranda rushed outside to open the mailbox. While Miranda was at the mailbox about to open it, Ruby rudely shoved her out of the way and collected the mail. They went inside and Ruby was holding a letter from Country Academy. She read it to the family.

"Hello, I am glad to hear that you are part of Country Academy. We have been around for more than 50 years, and we would greatly accept your assignment. I am happy that your parents paid us the amount of money to get inside of this private boarding school, and we would accept it. When you get here, you will be given a dorm key, a handbook and a schedule. Now for your first day, you will not need to attend any classes. We recommend that you spend this time exploring the school, checking out your dorm and talking to the other students. Please make sure to follow the school rules listed in the handbook. If you get lost, make sure to check out the map in the handbook and it will tell you where you need to go. The handbook is very useful to learn about the basics of Country Academy. If you have any additional questions not listed in the handbook, feel free to come to the Main Office.

Mr Walls

Headmaster"

Miranda didn't feel good. She felt that the students would bully her. 30 minutes later, the taxi arrived. They drove for 2 whole hours just to get to Country Academy.
