Mysterious Kate was initially a maid for the Sinclair-Mayer household, but began a relationship with recently divorced Archer, and moved herself into their new home. After giving birth to their son, Zakary, Archer discovered her ties to the criminal underworld and called off their engagement. In a fit of rage, Kate attempted to murder the two families in a deadly fire, but she instead ended up killing herself.
Opal was born and brought up somewhere unknown in Simland. Her parents and extended family are also not known. At some point, she became a regular maid in Sunset Valley, visiting residents' houses on a daily basis. At some point, she also got herself involved with the criminal underworld of the Valley.
Kate became a maid at 250 Redwood Parkway for the Sinclair and Mayer families, and bore witness to Archer Sinclair's affair with Tamsin Mayer, which lead to the breakdown of Archer's marriage to Opal Sinclair, and her subsequent exit from the household.
Following this, Kate's regular presence in the house lead her to become romantically involved with Archer, and before long they were an official item, and she moved in with the two families in their new home at 65 Maywood Lane. She told the household she'd continue her maid duties elsewhere to contribute, but in secret, she retired from being a maid and decided to focus full-time on her Criminal career.
