Elvira got up from her vampire alter at dusk and staggered into the kitchen and grabbed couple plasma packs. After she sucked the first few dry, I took a deep breath and walked in.

“Hi mom!” I smiled and stood next to her, trying to ignore the smell of plasma.

“Nisha.” She acknowledged.

“Brigit told me an interesting story about her father.”

“What’s her last name?” Elvira asked.

Good I have her talking at least. I thought. “Hemlock.”

“Oh yes, that spineless fool. Never hunted, never joined the council meetings. He was a useless dead weight if you ask me.”

“Anyway, Brigit told me about this Vamprocillin-D that made him human again.”

“You are not getting any Vamprocillin-D.” Elvira answered bluntly.

“I-I don’t want any-“

“I’m not an idiot Nisha, I know you don’t want to be a vampire but you have to be.”

Anger swelled inside me. “Why so you can keep me lock up in your house while you and your friends continue murdering the town!?” I shouted.

“No Nisha. Because if your mother came back for you and you weren’t a vampire anymore she would have both our heads and probably destroy Bridgeport in the process.” Elvira struggled to keep her anger under control.

“Maybe I’d believe you if I knew who my parents were!”

“Trust me, if you knew who your parents were you would wish you hadn’t.” Elvira got up and began head for the door.

“I bet I’m your daughter, you just made up that story of me being adopted so none of the other vampires would think you had a goody-good little vampire. I’m probably half-mortal and you just can’t stand the fact you’re not PERFECT!”

That last sentence was a mistake.

Elvira turned around with her super vampire speed and grabbed a hold of my shoulders and slammed me against the wall. Her eyes glowed their bloodthirsty scarlet. Her fury was like a force field, closing in on me and made it impossible to breath.

“NEVER challenge me if you value your life.” Elvira threatened

Then she was gone.
