Rosaline Ulett is a young Sim in my version of Veronaville whose family is caught up in the Capp/Monty rivalry. She lives in a large house with her aging mother, Constance Ulett, a longtime friend and business partner of Consort Capp and the late Contessa Capp. Due to her family history, most of the residents of Veronaville expect her to side with the Capps on feud-related matters. Rosaline herself would prefer for everyone to get along and let her study to get into law school; however, circumstances may make that difficult. As a Pisces, Rosaline has high Nice points, so she's generally easy to get along with despite being rather shy.
Rosaline's surname is a play on the formula used to create the Capp family name: half of "Capulet," with the final letter duplicated.
Rosaline is named after Juliet Capulet's cousin. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo attends the Capulet party hoping to catch a glimpes of Rosaline, who has rejected his advances; however, he forgets about her when he sees Juliet and begins to pine for her instead. In my neighborhood, I did my best to play on this by reversing which one of them met Romeo at the party.
The Party
Rosaline's story begins at a party thrown by Tybalt at the Capp family home. Tybalt threw the party to impress his classmates, with a particular eye on Rosaline, on whom he had been developing a crush ever since they met at school. Romeo, who crashed the party to spite Tybalt and spend some time with Juliette, was also attracted to Rosaline, but kept his distance to keep from angering Juliette. Tybalt started a fight with Romeo when he decided to make out with Juliette in front of all the other guests. Rosaline, being a friend of his, rooted for Tybalt, although she wasn't quite sure what was going on as she did not know Romeo at the time.
To Tybalt's delight, the party was a roaring success despite the gatecrash and ensuing fight. Rosaline was impressed, and agreed to go out with Tybalt the next night. They flirted, but both were too uncertain to kiss or ask the other to go steady.
The next day, Romeo invited Rosaline over to talk, hoping to flirt with her. Although she responded well to his non-romantic interactions, laughing at jokes and chatting animatedly about food, she rejected his attempt to Charm her.
Trivia
- Rosaline was created in CAS from a clone of Angela Pleasant. Although much of the facial structure was left unchanged, I did make some modifications to the nose and eye shape.
