'Till Death Do Us Part[edit | edit source]

Brigit and I were ecstatic! We were finally going to get married. After several months of waiting, I finally had what I wanted... To be with Brigit forever.

So, I slipped the ring on her finger. She looked at it, as the moonlight glinted off of the ring. Her grey eyes shone at me again, and she gave me an amorous hug. Then, we kissed.

As this was happening, I heard a silent applause coming from the building. I looked over, pulling away from Brigit, to find the whole assembly staring at us from the front of the building. Brigit began to laugh, and the committee began to laugh as well. Even I couldn't hold back a chuckle.

Elvira's booming voice interrupted us. "Alright, you lovebirds, we don't want to give anyone else any ideas about public displays of affection." She glanced over at two vampires, Beau and Bianca, who were holding hands. I assumed they were in a relationship. Beau winced, and Bianca managed to give Elvira a small smile.

"Everyone, you are dismissed. Go home, get some sleep; we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow." Everyone went their separate ways after that. I thanked Elvira for allowing me to join, and she said it was no big deal. I gave Nisha a friendly hug goodbye, and then walked home. I didn't know I had a tail until I was at the elevator leading up to my penthouse.

"Is it safe to be all alone out here?" said the voice. It was a familiar one.

"Why?" I asked, trying to hide the suspiciousness in my voice. "I've always felt safe in my own home."

Then, there was a mouth at my ear. "I don't know, maybe you'd be better with me here. Then the figure stepped out of the shadows. Brigit. Of course.

"Got something you want to tell me?" I asked. "Why are you here anyway? Don't you have a home?"

Brigit looked hurt. "No, I don't have a home. Sometimes Wogan will let me sleep at his place, but he doesn't very much appreciate my company. Other times, I'll sleepover with the Slayers, or sometimes even Beau. Now that Lilly-Bo and Marina have moved out, he's got two extra beds. But no, I don't have anywhere to be tonight."

I could tell that Brigit wanted to stay at my place. "I've still got an extra bed from when I was human. If you want, you can sleep there..."

Brigit followed me up into my house. As soon as I opened the door, she collapsed onto the bed.

"Thanks," she said. "I've been up all day, just waiting it out until tonight."

She pulled the covers over her body. I squeezed myself in next to her. "Are you sure you're not going to sleep there, on your altar?" she asked.

" It's not like I'm breaking any rules. Besides, we are engaged," I said.

Brigit didn't complain; she just wrapped her arms around me, and the rest of the world fell into darkness.
