Flat lives in Riverview with his wife [[Flo Broke|Flo]], son [[Skip Broke|Skip]], and daughter [[Ruby Broke]]. His brother, [[Buck Broke]], nephew [[Trigger Broke]], and niece, [[Susie Broke]], live with him as well. It appears that he and Flo most likely had Skip on their last days as adults. Even though he is an [[elder]] in the game, his hair is a mix of brown and grey. In this game, Flat is balding with a full beard. Like most of his family, Flat is fat and has the [[Party Animal]] trait. Like most of the family, Flatand only works a low-paying part-time job, perhaps due to his old age. While heHe is friends with almosteveryone all members ofin his family and [[Elaine Joy]], he[[Ginny McDermott]] and [[Bennie Dean]] who all work at the supermarket. In order for Flat to complete his wifelifetime wish, he will either have ato slightlydivorce poorFlo relationshipand remarry, have an affair with theiranother eldestSim child(as Flo is too old to be pregnant), Rubyor he could simply adopt.

Although Flat is no longer livingdeceased at the start of ''[[The Sims 2]]'', the Broke family tree tells usshows that Flat was married to [[Flo Broke]], and that they are the parents of [[Skip Broke]]. All three of them were deceased before the start of ''The Sims 2'''s storyline, which leaves [[Skip Broke|Skip]]'s wife, [[Brandi Broke]], widowed and raising her sons ([[Dustin Broke]], [[Beau Broke]], and an [[Unborn baby Broke|unborn son]], which she is expecting at the start of the game), who are Flat's grandchildren. Oddly, Ruby, Trigger, Buck and Susie are not mentioned, nor featured on the family tree and their whereabouts after The Sims 3 are unknown. At the time of his death, Flat's hair had gone fully grey, he had no beard and wore his hair in a ponytail, which is odd considering that he was balding in The Sims 3, which took place before The Sims 2. The fact that he has brown hair in ''[[The Sims 3]]'', and his natural hair color is blonde in ''[[The Sims 2]]'', implies he dyed it brown whilein he''The wasSims an [[elder]]3''. Strangely, while he had brownhazel eyes in ''The Sims 3'', he had dark blue eyes in ''The Sims 2''.

Flat uses a character portrait pose that was discontinued forduring development. According to his genderage duringdata developmentin [[Package editor#SimPE|SimPE]], Flat had 23 days left when he died.
