We've had The Sims game rumors running for quite some time, and it has always been a page severely in need of constant moderation (until recently, which I'll get into in a bit), to the point where we wrote a whole policy about it.

If anyone has noticed, recently the activity on that page has gone way down. I attribute this to Maxis' live event in the beginning of the year, where they announced the TS3 expansions and stuff packs for this year, and then the announcement of TS4 in May which all but confirmed that no new games would be coming out. What this means is we probably won't see any major additions to our rumors until the release of TS4, when we will start seeing rumors about the first TS4 expansions and stuff packs.

So the specific purpose of this thread is to discuss any changes we might want to make to the rumors page prior to it becoming more active again. As an example, we might want to consider cleaning out the old rumors, or starting an archive for the old rumors, or some similar project.

I think our best bet is to archive all of the rumors that are on the page so far and keep them for reference, in the case of folk who wish to look back at the rumors and make some sort of comparison or whatnot to EPs and SPs that are already out. Personally, I don't think we should erase the previous rumors as there would be no legitimate reason for having the page if we were going to erase the old rumors from the previous era to make room for new rumors on the next era of the series. FWIW, attempting to edit The Sims game rumors triggers a spam-block warning if the part being edited contains a reference to http://rinconsimmer(dot)jimdo(dot)com/. I was trying to move the Fake Rumors note to the top of its section, and the spam filter choked on jimdo(dot)com. I reported it to VSTF as a potential false positive.
Archiving the old rumors is probably a good idea for the sake of preserving the information about them having existed, but this will have to be cleared up before it can be done. Dharden (talk) 14:05, August 15, 2013 (UTC)
I don't have anything better to say. I agree with Beds and Dharden. It seems that archiving is a good decision, after we can clear up the content. The "current rumors" are rather outdated. They're either fake or confirmed, i.e. fake holiday seasonal stuff and a confirmed future stuff about time traveling (sort of). Nikel Talk Vote! 17:17, August 19, 2013 (UTC)
Per everyone above. Jason (Talk) {{{1}}} 20:08, August 24, 2013 (UTC)
It's not that content needed to be cleared up, but that a URL was triggering a false positive in the spam filter. VSTF has taken care of this. Dharden (talk) 13:06, August 29, 2013 (UTC)
