So, The Sims 2 takes 25 years after the first Sims. And The Sims 3 takes 25 years before the original Sims. What about The Sims 4?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.110.19.251 (talkcontribs) 18:25, February 19, 2015‎ (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

It's in an alternate timeline. ~NikoBellicFTW—Preceding unsigned comment added by NikoBellicFTW (talkcontribs) 19:51, February 19, 2015‎ (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~
That's to put it simply. Also, TS3 isn't strictly a prequel because its timeline is not consistent. Nikel Talk Vote! 09:10, February 20, 2015 (UTC)
As Nikel said. the TS3 timeline is not consistent. So this is a list of possible theories : 1- Each family has it's own timeline. OR 2- TS3 was supposed to be an alternate universe until EA decided to give that to TS4. OR 3- They basically just forgot about the whole timeline thingy and screwed it up. Anyways anybody is free to just follow the timeline the way he/she wants so it's not really important. Imasexysimlover (talk)/(fanon) 09:19, February 20, 2015 (UTC)
I'm inclined to go with your 3rd theory, though. Nikel Talk Vote! 05:27, February 21, 2015 (UTC)
I know. EA totally destroyed the whole logical timeline from TS1 to TS2 by TS3. The TS3 timeline can't be even called a "Timeline", Like seriously? Kaylynn halfway through childhood while Mortimer just started the stage AND he's an elder in TS2 but Kaylynn is at the very first second in her adult stage?? Seriously EA? oh and Cornelia, she lived to see Cassandra getting engaged in TS2 while she was on her last days of the adult stage in TS3 O_o Imasexysimlover (talk)/(fanon) 11:37, February 21, 2015 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure Cornelia is 7 days to Elder back in TS3. She becomes an Elder AFTER Mortimer becomes a teen. Iqbal is 6 days to Elder and Gunther 5 days to Elder.

And anyway The Sims does'nt really have a story. For how i see it, there are just a few basic characters they like to reuse. Usually their faces and personalities are even quite different.

TS1 was suppose to be a town-building game. TS2 had 3 towns, one of them featured some characters based on the ones in the first game. BUT you could make any town you wanted, and Veronaville had clearly nothing to do with TS1 while Strangetown just had the fake Bella running around. That's what "25 Years Later" means. It's not taken to be literal and extend to the other TS2 'hoods, but agestage-wise, the sims are 25ish years older, even if not all of them, but everyone knows how aging works in TS2, right? Only the played household ages. TS3 says SV is before PW, and has kid versions of sims of the other games, but i'm sure they only did so because everyone ages at the same time in TS3 and also the story progression who does'nt really progresses. AND TS4 is explicitly set in a WEIRDER UNIVERSE than the other 3 games. Okay?

(Also i like to think that maybe, the TS3 Mortimer and TS3 Bella married and had TS2 Victor Goth not Cassie and Alex, and it's actually MUCH earlier than we think. Maybe it's 25 season cycles difference instead of 25 simdays.) --Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 21:36, February 25, 2015 (UTC)
