Welcome to Dominate, a game of survival that revolves around the concept of, well, dominating all other players.
The basic idea is that you play as a person living in a certain world, using money, alliances, crime and everything else you think of to ensure the survival of yourself or your family lineage. This is a text game, though, so don't worry about actually creating the person in-game.
Each player must create one Sim. They may choose their Sim's gender, how it looks, its occult status, etc. However, all Sims start off as young adults (or adults in a Sims 2 game). Please see this section for more details.
Should the original Sim die leaving children, the player assumes the identity of the eldest child, regardless of age. If the Sim dies with no children, the player is disqualified from the game. Unless the child attended before the parent dies, the child cannot go to university.
All NPC's (children of living Sims, Sims not controlled by players) are controlled by moderators (mods). Mods may create participating Sims. However, usage of moderator powers to benefit their Sim or its family is not tolerated. Moderators caught abusing their powers will be banned from participating in the current game and the game after that. They will also be barred from becoming moderators for the next three (3) games.
All original Sims start with §20,000 as with average CAS households. However, unlike in the game, they may take loans from the bank. The bank has an infinite amount of money and is controlled by a mod assigned to the bank.
While a game is running, new players may join. They will start with exactly the same circumstances as the other players, but already playing users will not have to restart. Instead, treat the new player as a new neighbour.
Random Number Generators are used in Dominate. RNG's are used to determine randomly how a chance event occurs. For example, if a Sim were to go for a drive in his/her car, a RNG is needed to calculate if an accident occurs. Please see this section for more details on chance events.
When there is only one person/family left playing, that player wins the game, and the game ends. The old game is archived, and a new one created. Players from the previous game may join in the new game by simply re-registering themselves in the Players section. Players may reuse their original Sims, but not the Sims that followed after the original's death.
Players' Sims may form relationships with other players' Sims, as well as NPC's. Marriages are allowed. In doing so, the controlling players will enter a alliance or partnership, and must work together to continue their family lineage. In this case, should the family achieve victory, the users controlling the family's members will all be proclaimed the winners.
In the case of passing control to children, the user that has their Sim die first assumes control of the eldest child, and then the other player the second eldest, regardless of age. All other children will remain under the control of mods. Mods may arrange incidents resulting in NPC's deaths at their discretion, without the use of RNG's.
When hiring criminals or gangs to do some dirty work, you will have to pay them a certain amount. Mods will determine this amount, and the turn you should pay these criminals by. RNG's will determine the criminal's degree of success. If you fail to pay the criminal, they may come after you, so be careful!
You may not use criminals to murder other players' Sims.
Each game is played on a world such as Sunset Valley or Riverblossom Hills. However, TS1 neighbourhoods will not be used as they are too small. Fanon neighbourhoods may also be used. Tim will choose what world will be played on next.
Games are turned based and proceed by day. Once each player has taken their turn, mods will respond to chance events and then the next turn will begin.
Last but not least, please be courteous to your fellow players. Remember that this is only a simulation, like the Sims game itself, so please do not get into arguments or take the game too seriously.
Have fun!
Also, if you think there's something in the rules that need to be clarified, ask Tim and he will try to rectify the problem.
Creating your Sim
Creating your Sim
Write a short description of your Sim in a subsection here. Describe their gender, occult status, appearance. Traits and personality are irrelevant, as you'll be this Sim, so don't worry about them.
Depending on the world being played in this game, choose your house. Ensure it is one within your budget §20,000, or else you will have to take a loan from the bank. Players are allowed to purchase houses already owned by other players, provided that the players living in the house agree to the housemateship.
Move your Sim in.
Do everything in your power to win! (Provided it's allowed, of course)
Bank
Bank
Borrowing from a bank is quite a bit simpler than in the real world. You can take out loans for pretty much anything, from houses to funding criminal activity, but you must pay the bank back within a certain amount of time, set by the bank moderator. There is no interest rate initially. If you fail to pay by the turn set by the bank mod, however, the price will be multiplied by 1.5, and you will be given an extension. If still you do not pay back the money, you will lose your house and therefore be disqualified from the game. If you are married, your partner's funds will be independent of yours, and so he/she will be able to continue in the game without you. They'll simply have to find another house.
You may borrow as much as you wish (within reason) from the bank, but be wary of the strict bank regulations!
Chance events
Chance events
Chance events are incidences that require a random number generator to determine the outcome of the occurrence. Examples include:
Going for a car ride
Going for a swim
Cooking a magnificent feast to please some guests
Getting into a fight
Hiring a criminal to steal some money from the bank
Inviting the headmaster over for dinner.
Generally, if a number
1 is generated, it is a tragic failure/accident. Tragic failures result in disqualification. Tragic accidents result in death, which also results in disqualification. As such, a tragic failure has been made very unlikely.
from 2 to 5 is generated, it is a moderate failure/small accident. Moderate failures do not result in disqualification, but simply not success. Small accidents result in injury that does not result in death, and so the player will be put out of action for one turn. (i.e. they will not be allowed to participate for one turn)
from 6 to 9 is generated, it is a modest success/uneventful outcome. Modest successes are for headmaster dinners or criminal activities. Uneventful outcomes are for chance events that can result in accidents.
10 is generated, it is a fantastic success/joyful outcome. Fantastic successes are again for dinners and robberies and such. Joyful outcomes are for accident-causing chance events, and these outcomes may result in some perks.
Ultimate consequences are at the discretion of the chance event moderators based on the generated number.
