For those who are unaware, within the past year or so, Wikia, the company that hosts The Sims Wiki, has moved to rebrand its wiki hosting operations under the name FANDOM (written in all-caps). Although the website's main domain name remains "wikia.com," on-site branding has been changed. The Sims Wiki has up to now used the name "Wikia" (written with the first letter capitalized, to distinguish it from a "wikia," which is what individual wikis on the site were at one time called) to refer to our host site and its staff. Multiple pages on The Sims Wiki, primarily pages in the "Project" namespace, still contain references to Wikia or to Wikia Staff.

I believe that this split branding might cause confusion with some users, especially users who registered after the site's shift from Wikia to FANDOM. As a result, I think it would be best for us to update our pages to reflect the new branding of the site. For instance, we should change references to "Wikia Staff" and "Wikia Terms of Use" to "FANDOM Staff" and "FANDOM Terms of Use," respectively. We would also need to change any other instances that exist on the wiki that refer to Wikia as an entity (except direct references to Wikia, Inc., the parent company of FANDOM, or wikia.org, Wikia, Inc.'s philanthropic organization). I realize that the change of names from Wikia to FANDOM might not be particularly popular, especially with our older editors, but I feel it's best to accept the rebranding and implement it on a local level in order to minimize confusion.

Thoughts? -- LiR talk · blog · contribs 02:53, September 13, 2017 (UTC)

As an addendum, I want to clarify that I am only proposing changing Wikia to FANDOM on pages within the Project (The Sims Wiki:) namespace, and then only on pages that aren't archived. I do not think that we should modify archived references to Wikia, including archived versions of user or other talk pages. -- LiR talk · blog · contribs 02:56, September 13, 2017 (UTC)
Almost half a year later, may I assume by the total silence here that everyone begrudgingly approves of this? -- LostInRiverview talk · blog · contribs 07:43, February 11, 2018 (UTC)
I have no qualms with changing the titles to better suit the current namespace. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 12:43, February 11, 2018 (UTC)
