Fountain
A fountain in The Sims 3: Late Night.
Fountains are a type of decorative object available in The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4. Fountains exist either as standalone objects that can be placed anywhere or up against the wall, or as objects that can only be placed on ponds. Some fountains allow Sims to sit on their ledges.[TS2:BV][TS3]
Fountain pools and jets
The Sims 3: Late Night and The Sims 4 added fountain jets as a build mode feature. Fountains made with the fountain tool are essentially unusable pools, with a 'view' interaction in place of the 'swim' interaction, and can be created on both residential and community lots. The fountain tool also contains fountain objects such as water spouts, allowing players to customize their fountains. This allows the fountains to be more flexible than fountains available in buy mode. Unlike pool objects, the spouts can be placed out of the fountain.[clarification needed]

Interactions
In The Sims and The Sims 4: Romantic Garden Stuff, Sims can make a wish and toss a coin into the fountain. In The Sims 2 as well as The Sims 4: Romantic Garden Stuff, Sims can add soap to any fountain as a prank.
