In The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, children and teens get homework on school days.

The Sims 2

In The Sims 2, clicking on the homework allows the player to have the Sim do his or her homework, or to ask an older Sim for help. If an older household member is selected, clicking on the homework allows that Sim to offer to help the student with his or her homework. A child or teen who is being helped with homework will finish it faster, and will gain the memory of being taught to study, which will allow them to do homework more quickly. If The Sims 2: Seasons is installed, students will do homework faster in the fall, or after drinking apple juice.

Doing -- or not doing -- homework will affect a student's grades. A student who goes to school in a good mood with all homework done will gain a letter grade. Students will not be penalized for going to school with one piece of homework undone, but going to school with more than one piece of homework undone may cause their grades to drop.

The Sims 3

On school days, children and teens will come home with homework in their inventory. They will have the "Do Homework", "Do Homework With", and "Get Help From" interactions, so they will be able to get help from young adults, adults, or elders on the lot. Sims may stop doing homework if they are hungry or have a low bladder meter. Having the bookworm trait can help Sims get homework done faster, and the Public Library is a good place to study. Students who skip homework or do not get it completed on time may receive a bad, foul, or horrifying status in the Homework section of their school performance. Sims can have this status if they do not finish homework in the time they have to do it. A great, excellent, or outstanding performance in this area can be the result of having finished homework in that time or when time comes to pass it in. If the cursor is placed over the homework while homework is on the lot, it will display the homework owner's name, and how much they have done. When homework is 100% finished, the status for "Homework" will be "Outstanding."
