He attends college with his twin brother [[Martin Ruben|Martin]], who lives in the [[Bright household]]. He is in his Freshman year with an Undeclared major. He will typically roll the want to declare the Biology major, and will fear declaring the Literature major.
While it is unexplained whether he or his twin brother is the older one, Joshua is 49 hours away from the final exam in his first semester, when the fraternity is first played. Martin is 45 hours from the final exam in his first semester, which could indicate that Martin is the older twin. However it may just mean that Martin is better educated, as he is more focused than Joshua. Their NIDs indicate that Joshua was the first twin to be created.
He and [[Mickey Dosser]] have very similar facial features at the start of the game. However they will look quite different from each other when they become [[elder]]s, even though they both use the 25th face in [[Create a Sim]]. For other life stages Joshua's face is linked to the 26th template while Mickey's is linked to the 2nd template. Like several other [[Sim]]s from Sim State University, Joshua starts off with no [[gender preference]].
