A legacy challenge is a challenge created by Pinstar that challenges a player to play a family through 10 generations.

The player starts with one adult Sim by themselves in what is known as a "legacy lot" (a lot, usually 5x5 or 6x5, with only the bare necessities for the Sim). The use of cheats and who the family members can marry are strictly regulated. Every generation there is supposed to be an heir who keeps the legacy going.

The townie rule is different in The Sims 3, because everybody is from the same neighbourhood.

Some Types of Legacies

These are just some of the many different legacies that there are.

  • Uglacy: Trying to create the ugliest sim possible in 10 generations.
  • Prettacy: Starting with a very ugly sim, then trying to make the prettiest sim possible in 10 generations.
  • Alphabet Legacy: Naming the children in alphabetical order for 26 generations. (e.g. generation 1's names start with 'A'(ex. Alice), generation 2's start with 'B'(ex. Bob), generation 3's start with 'C'(ex. Charlie), etc.)
  • Matriarch Legacy: Starting with an adult female, and getting her pregnant WITHOUT having her get married. This goes for all generations.
  • Riskacy: Having the founder and heirs marry the first adult sim of the opposite gender (playable, townie, or NPC) that walks on the lot.
  • Cleanacy: Making it so the founder and every heir have a 10 personality of neatness. Or have the neat trait.
  • LEGacy: making sims with legs for ten generations.
  • Birthacy: make them give birth.
  • Big C: name alll sims from all generations have a capital C in their name (ex. DarCy, ZaCh, Charlotte)
  • Realacy: play the legacy challenge however you wish- but according to your life! Your founder must be the age you are when you start writing the legacy, and they may only age when you age, and have kids when you have kids.
  • Fishacy: do the legacy challenge, but with fish!
  • Don't Do It! Legacy: don't do the legacy challenge.
  • Fleece: Do the legacy challenge, with the fleece!
  • Fatacy: The founder, all heirs, and all spouses, must be fat.
  • Adoptacy: Sims cannot be born to the family, only adopted.
