A library is a community building found in The Sims 3 that allows Sims to read books, but not bring them home. Every single book in the game is here, with the exception of the cooking, fishing and guitar books. If a player gets their sims to write a novel, then when it is completed it is often seen on the shelves of the library. The library in Sunset Valley is known as Papyrus Memorial Library. The name refers to Papyrus, the first paper-like material, and the origin of the word Paper. Papyrus is no longer used, hence why it is a memorial.

The library also provides the use of computers and a few children's toys.

Librarys could be made in The Sims and The Sims 2, but they were just classed as standard community lots.
