For ages of Sims, see Life stages.

Lifespan is a setting in the options menu of The Sims 3 that determines how long (barring any unfortunate accidents) your Sim's life will be.

  • Short: 25 Sim days
  • Medium: 50 Sim days
  • Normal: 90 Sim days
  • Long: 190 Sim days
  • Epic: 960 Sim days

Your sim may artificially lengthen their lifespan by eating Life Fruit.
Unfortunately, meals made with Life Fruit, such as Life Fruit Pancakes, do not have the same rejuvenating effect except the Ambrosia, that resets the remaining days to age up. Sims can also, at any time, get a birthday cake and celebrate their birthday. If you do this they will grow up.

You can also turn aging off in the options menu if you want to temporarily or permanently stop everyone in town from aging.
