Although Marshall is deceased when the game begins, he appears in the [[family tree]] of his grandchildren Daniel and Jennifer. Neither he nor his wife appear in ''[[The Sims]]'', although their daughter Diane does. According to Marshall's SimDNA in [[Package editor#SimPE|SimPE]], his hair was brown before it turned grey. According to his age data, he had 15 days left in the [[elder]] [[life stage]] when he died.
