Martin Ruben is a freshman Mathematics major at Sim State University who lives in the Bright Household with roommates Allegra Gorey and Jane Stacks. His twin brother, Joshua, also attends Sim State. The brothers have a 20/20 relationship with one another, so while they are not hostile or even estranged, they are not close, either.
He is the nerd on campus, while his brother is a popular jock who is in a prestigious fraternity. Surprisingly, though, he is also friends with the most popular girl on the campus, sorority girl Heather Huffington, who has a crush on him.
Martin has a friendly but rather introverted personality, tending to be shy, lazy, and neat. Not surprisingly for a nerd, Martin is strongly interested in sci-fi and the paranormal. His other main interests are politics, weather, and work. He is not very interested in money, sports, or fashion.
