Mike Steel is one of the pre-created, yet unplayable Sims in The Sims 2. During his lifetime, he resided in Strangetown, one of the neighborhoods shipped with the game. Mike was the lover of Mary Melons, which they had a daughter, named Missy Grunt. Missy then married General Chip Grunt, and they had General Buzz Grunt. He married Lyla Grunt and had three kids, Tank, Ripp and Buck, but the two divorced. Mike is therefore the great-grandfather of Tank, Ripp and Buck.

According to his SimDNA in SimPE, his hair was brown before it turned grey. Despite once being the lover of Mary Melons, they have no relation to one another, when their relationships are viewed in SimPE. According to Mike's age data in SimPE, he had 16 days left in the elder stage when he died. His facial structure is similar to that of Joel Jeffress. As with many pre-made Sims in Strangetown, the "Skintone" part of Mike's Sim DNA is missing.
