Money cheats
Money cheats are available in all The Sims games.
klapaucius & rosebud
The Sims has the cheats klapaucius and rosebud. klapaucius only works with the unpatched version. They both give the current household an additional §1,000.
Enter cheat mode:
type: ^ Ctrl+⇧ Shift+C
type:klapaucius
Notes: Gives current household an additional 1,000 Simoleons. Unpatched version of The Sims only.
Enter cheat mode:
type: ^ Ctrl+⇧ Shift+C
type:rosebud
Notes: Gives current household an additional 1,000 Simoleons. Patched version of The Sims only.
Also, with this cheat, it's possible to type in klapaucius or rosebud, then a number of ";!"s next to it. Each of these gives an additional §1,000, so the more you put in, the more money the family will get.
Trivia
Klapaucius was one of the "constructors" in Stanislaw Lem's The Cyberiad.
kaching
kaching is a cheat in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. It gives the current household an additional §1,000.

Notes: Gives current household an additional 1,000 Simoleons.
motherlode
motherlode is a cheat introduced in The Sims 2. When used, it adds 50,000 Simoleons to the current family's funds. As well as many other cheats, motherlode appears in The Sims 3.

Notes: Gives current an additional household 50,000 Simoleons.
familyFunds
familyFunds can be used to increase or decrease a family's household funds by a specific amount. It can also be used from the neighborhood screen (it even works with families in the bin/without home). It is available in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. In The Sims 3, testingcheatsenabled must be activated first.

Enter cheat mode:

type:familyFunds <family last name> <amount>
Notes: Increases/decreases household's Simoleons.
The Sims 3
