== Inheritance ==
The Monty family is patrilineal, meaning that thethings wifepass takesdown the husband's name and inheritance passes down through male offspringline. TheGiven head of House Monty is therefore Patrizio Monty. Asthat both the Capps and Summerdreams are matrilineal, the Montys cannot be easily be married to either of them. Patrilinearity does not mean patriarchy.

If the Monty family follows real-life primogeniture, then the heir of the Monty family will follow this pattern.
# Antonio Monty, son of Patrizio.
# Benedick Monty, son of Antonio.
# Romeo Monty, son of Claudio.
# Mercutio Monty, son of Claudio.
Assuming European patriarchy and patrilineage, Antonio Monty should be heir, despite that Romeo, as the last in line of the male successors, is presented by Maxis as the heir. There are multiple player interpretations. One is that Maxis has goofed up the birth order. Another is that Romeo's father is Patrizio's favorite son, and Claudio's favorite son is Romeo.

{{Monty Family}}
The line of succession to the headship of House Monty is as follows:
# Antonio Monty, son of Patrizio.
# Benedick Monty, son of Antonio.
# Mercutio Monty, son of Claudio.
# Romeo Monty, son of Claudio.
Interestingly, this means that although Romeo is presented as being the heir to House Monty, he is actually the last in line of the male successors. As this is similarly true with Juliette Capp, who is second to last of the female successors to House Capp, their romance should perhaps not be as significant a scandal as it is made out to be by the creators of the game as they are far from being the heirs to their respective dynasties. {{Monty Family}}
