A Sim fishing in a pond

A pond is a pool of water on a lot.

Features

If a pond has the necessary requirements, fish can be found in the pond and a Sim can begin fishing.[TS:V][TS2:S][TS3][TS4] In The Sims 2: Seasons clicks can only be detected by the physical moat of the pond. Therefor, the steeper the pond is, the harder it is to initiate the fishing interactuon.

In The Sims 2: Seasons and The Sims 3: Seasons, ponds freeze over in the winter. When it does, Sims can skate on it.[TS3:S]

In The Sims 3, if a Sim has at least 10 of one type of fish, they can "stock" the pond with the fish, in which the number of fish then becomes unlimited and can be fished from at anytime.

In The Sims 4: Get Famous, Sims can drown in the Luminary's Exotic Water Garden pond if they fall into it while the pond is filled with hungry fish.

Constructing

Players can create a pond in the lot by selecting "Ponds" from the build menu and applying it to an area of terrain.[TS1][TS2][TS3] The Sims 3 for console is the only console game in The Sims series that allows for ponds to be created. This can be done by going into the Landsculpting options and by selecting the Water tool and applying it to an area of exposed terrain. Ponds can be stocked with dead fish, which can be fished at anytime in the Sims' own personal pond.

Various plants, like lily pads, can be added as cosmetic decoration. The Sims 2: Seasons introduced a fountain (The Flowy Fountain) for ponds, which can purchased from the sculpture section in buy mode.

In The Sims 4, ponds exist as an object found in parks. They cannot be placed onto the lot without the use of the bb.showhiddenobjects cheat. There are two types of ponds: normal and desert.
