This scarecrow can only placed outdoor. Sims can view the scarecrow and laugh. However, after many times, the scarecrow would react and scare the Sim.

Similar to The Sims 2 scarecrow, Scarecrow comes alive for a few seconds if being viewed for a long time. However, it does not always scare Sim and do some silly dance instead. A Scarecrow is placed in the festival grounds in Fall.

Scarecrows are reintroduced in The Sims 4: Seasons in the form of an NPC called Patchy the Straw Man. When first purchased, Patchy is inanimate; Sims can chat with Patchy and build a relationship with him, after which he will come alive and help tend the gardens. Just like in previous games, Patchy can becomes alive, or even scare Sims if they view him for too long. Sims can ask Patchy for gardening tips to increase their gardening skill and collect seeds from his pockets. As long as Patchy maintains a good relationship with the Sims, he will stay alive and continue to help out.
