::They make good decorations and give Sims nice moodlets as a result. They're also something to collect. Some players like the feeling of completing a collection of every type of gem and gain satisfaction from acquiring difficult cuts for example. Mostly, it's a matter of goals and playstyle. -- Lexmechanic (talk) 02:42, September 10, 2012 (UTC)
:::Hmm, good point. But do they really give Sims moodlets? Never encountered any before. I wonder if collecting gems has anything to do with Gatherer trait? ::::You've really never found any? That surprises me - they can be found laying on the ground randomly around the neighborhood. If you decorate your Sims' surroundings well, they do indeed get moodlets that increase in effect the more decorated the room gets. The Gather trait improves the quality of gems, metals, etc. as the Sim picks them up or retrieves the cut/refined items from a mailbox, I believe. -- Lexmechanic (talk) 02:56, September 10, 2012 (UTC)
