A fire sprinkler is an object that extinguishes nearby fires.

|Skimmer Securities Ceiling Sprinkler|
|If your Sims have a knack for starting fires, then they should invest in this industrial-strength safety device to fireproof any home or community building. The moment this sprinkler detects extreme heat in its vicinity, a shower of flame-quenching water rains down and immediately extinguishes the threat. However, beware of pranksters sporting a lighter, since this sprinkler does not discriminate when it comes to fire prevention.|

Sprinklers must be placed indoors. A sprinkler covers a 5x5 area, centered on the sprinkler. Any fire that starts under the sprinkler or within two squares of it will immediately be extinguished, but the sprinkler will leave a watery mess that must be mopped up. Nearby Sims will react to the sprinkler by running around with their hands over their heads until it stops operating. If the player cancels this action, it will be pushed back on the Sim.

|Fire Prevention System Utility Panel|
|Safety first! Use this control box to manage your building's sprinkler system in case of fire or other industrial accident.
Note: Sprinklers require a ceiling to deploy.

While the utility panel of the sprinklers is the main object that is bought from build mode, the actual sprinklers themselves do exist, but are only visible when a fire is occurring. Utility panels can be placed indoors or outdoors, but the sprinklers require a ceiling to work. When a fire has started, all utility panels on the lot will deploy a single sprinkler on the ceiling above the fire, even if the panel is in a different room. The sprinkler will then put out the fire without leaving any puddles. Sprinklers require a smoke detector in order to activate.[confirmation needed]
