Fire sprinklers were first introduced in The Sims 2: University, as the Skimmer Securities Ceiling Sprinkler. They cost §245, and are found in the Misc. > Misc. section of Buy mode.
Sprinklers must be placed indoors. A sprinkler covers a 5x5 area, centered on the sprinkler. Any fire that starts under the sprinkler or within two squares of it will immediately be extinguished, but the sprinkler will leave a watery mess that must be mopped up.
