Skunks can come and wander around a Residential lot sometimes. A sim can either 'pet', 'watch', or 'chase off' the skunk. The first two options will get the sim sprayed by the skunk and make their hygiene meters go down. A skunk can also spray pets. Interestingly, PlantSims can be sprayed by skunks with no ill effects (unless the Sims has a fear of being sprayed) so for plantsims, skunks aren't a problem.
