New skin tones

There's seems to be one new skin tone in University Life, but I'm not sure if it will be included in the patch or not. Chances are it will, but updating this page can wait until the game is released, I guess. Nikel Talk Vote! 09:52, February 15, 2013 (UTC)

I've seen references to The Sims 3: Seasons making the skin tone used by aliens available in CAS. Dharden (talk) 13:45, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
You're right. I didn't think of alien skin tone before, but I didn't really notice if aliens have a new skin tone or if it's added in Seasons patch. This image to be exact, though. Nikel Talk Vote! 03:39, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
Well, if it's in the Seasons patch, I'd expect it to be in the EP as well, but I don't know if it'd necessarily be the other way around. Dharden (talk) 05:29, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
http://simsvip.com/game-guides/sims-3-seasons/ , scroll down to Create A Sim Features:New Skin Types. It really shows if you click through to the full-size pic. No idea if the screenshot is from a game w/Seasons, or if it's in the Seasons patch, or if it was carried forward from Seasons, and too late here to look, but it looks like the new tone is from Seasons, not UL. Dharden (talk) 05:43, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
I'll try to check it if it's the same skin as alien skin in my game or not. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that screenshot is taken with BG and UL only. So if alien skin is from a patch, then the skin isn't new. Nikel Talk Vote! 06:16, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not in a position to know what packs and patches a shot was taken with unless it's explicitly stated. However, if that shot was taken with just BG and UL, it implies that tones added in one patch are carried forward into later ones, since the Supernatural tones are there, and they are known to have been in the Supernatural patch. In any event, it looks like the tone was new in Seasons. Dharden (talk) 13:20, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
http://simsvip.com/2012/10/29/seasons-patch-1-42-new-features-options/ says that the new tone is in the Seasons patch, but I'm not sure what patch number 1.42 translates into. Dharden (talk) 14:14, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
So here's the alien skin tone in the game. Looks like the screencap in UL is too dark, and apparently they are the same skin tone. Nikel Talk Vote! 14:10, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
... or not. I can't really tell. University Life is only 2 weeks away, so it's not that long to seek the truth. The problem is the image itself, which I added in the UL page as well. Should I edit and remove the skintone one? Nikel Talk Vote! 14:15, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
For now, I'd say so, until we know for sure. Dharden (talk) 14:19, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
Done. I can't rearrange it any better, as it will always leave blank spaces anyhow. Nikel Talk Vote! 14:54, February 18, 2013 (UTC)

Painting of Will Wright

The painting in University YACAS really is Will Wright... I guess. It's a hidden painting, but there's a mod that unlocks it. Nikel Talk Vote! 11:28, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Dark-Blue and Blue Eyes

Personally I am at a bit of a loss as to why Sims with dark-blue eyes and Sims with blue eyes are not in seperate categories.C.Syde65 (talk) 08:35, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

It's a little hard to tell whether Sims have dark or light blue eyes or maybe in-between. In The Sims 2, it's possible to distinguish the eye colors but only with SimPE or SimDNA cheat, because it's very hard to tell if we only compare it with our memory. However, it's impossible in The Sims 3, since "dark blue" and "light blue" are based on the editor's perception, and thus, it's a subjective measure instead of objective. "Blue eyes" covers both shades, so it prevents error, albeit less accurate. There have been too many Sims in The Sims 2 using "blue" as the eyes instead of the specific color also, so it's gonna be a big change if we have to check each Sim one-by-one from start.
