Revision as of 16:25, 11 November 2012

I just noticed while looking at the songs that they used the word Vous in place of you, as far as I know this is an instance where they used an actual language to make up simlish, not very important but it's worth noting.

PS if anyone can find a place where they used a foreign language in simlish I would like to know. Just one step closer to actually speaking simlish Lord Sunflash May the wind be at your back, matey!

How can we be sure what some of that stuff actually means...Like degg degg..Children say that when you enter CAS so how do we know that means goodbye? Huh?PlantsvsZombies 04:04, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

Old Simlish

In one of the recent webisodes for The Sims Medieval, the sound technictions and actors mentioned that medieval sims do not speak in 'simlish' but rather 'old simlish'. One of the actors deminstated this by first acting out a scene from the game in 'simlish' and them in 'old simlish', demonstrating that old simlish sounds very different. Do you think we should add a new section or even a new page talking about old simlish?KayO199X 18:47, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

I agree. Sounds good. --BobNewbie talkblog 19:08, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

If you take care of Military Career Sims. and zoom camera near any Fort that military sims work you can hear some word that can be a military command. I don't know how to spell these command but it's can traslate to English.

Marilyn Manson?

Just read through the History Paragraph and happened to see this;

'Simlish was created because Marilyn Manson, creator of The Sims, knew that the game needed dialogue, but thought that using real life languages such as English would cause the dialogue to be repetitive and would be expensive translating the entire dialog Sims may say. Marilyn Manson did consider experimenting with Navajo, a Native American language, but decided that it would be better to use a "nonsense language" that couldn't be translated, because the meaning could be left to the player's imagination.[1]

Some say it may be a mixture of Ukrainian, Navajo, and Tagalog[2], but this has not been confirmed.'

Now, as much as I love Marilyn Manson's music, I certainly know he did not create the sims. Not quite sure how creditable the rest of the paragraph is, so someone might like to check that out, as well as see who edited this.

Also, wouldn't it be better to include in a history section which Maxis game first featured Simlish?

Good eye, looks to be vandalism from a couple of days ago that we missed. Thanks for reporting it! ђ talk 05:53, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

Citations!

"Known Simlish Translations" needs citations. How are these known? etc.TheArchduchessofCool (talk) 13:25, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

I totally agree, but I have no idea how we'll cite something that Sims speak. Sul sul and degg degg are the only widely known Simlish imo. Others are most likely by someone's assumption. Nikel Talk Vote! 14:36, September 14, 2012 (UTC)
