It might be good to have the code names for each trait. Or at least the ones which aren't obvious. Normally, the code names are easy to work out - you just have to remove any space in the middle e.g. if you want to add the Gym Rat trait you'd type in the console: traits.equip_trait gymrat

However, some of them do not follow this logical 'no space' rule. This can make using the console arduous. For example Angler's Tranquility = AnglersTranquility so if someone types in: traits.equip_trait Angler'sTranquility (NB apostrophe in the middle) it won't work and it may well be difficult to understand *why* it didn't work. (This is very typical in computer programming - 1 character out of place can break your programme and the computer won't say why it's broken.)

Moreover if you type in: traits.equip_trait Poetic it won't do anything because the codename is actually POET. I wiped out all my Sims' traits by mistake *Very* easily by using the CAS editor, which forced me to add them back manually but it was difficult because the trait code names aren't obvious. I think other people will have this problem - I saw one other person had posted in a forum about it:

http://simsvip.com/2014/09/07/the-sims-4-skill-cheats-relationship-cheats-and-more/comment-page-2/#comment-533573

Therefore, I'm going to search for all the difficult code names. Here are the non-obvious ones I've found so far.

IMO, randomly inserting underscores into the middle of code names is a hateful thing that programmers sometimes do to trip novice programmers up. Anyway, below is a fuller list. To make it I got a list of code names that some kind player had posted on the internet and applied each one to my sim (on my PC). I guess he or she compiled the list from looking in a game file because otherwise how would she know that for example "invested" was a code name when the game never mentions the word? This means that further exploration may be possible by examining the game files somehow.

Talk:Trait (The Sims 4)

This is a page for discussing improvements to Trait (The Sims 4)

Talk pages are used to discuss changes or improvements to the article or page only. Please use the game discussions forum for game discussions, help desk for game questions, or the off-topic forum for general conversations. Real-time conversation about The Sims (as well as off-topic discussions) can also be found on The Sims Wiki's IRC Channel or Discord server.

Differences between CAS previews and CAS demos

The CAS have undergone several changes from the older previews (such as the IGN video How To Create Your Perfect Sims in The Sims 4) and the recent CAS Demo video by SimsVIP I just watched. The trait icon for Lazy has been changed, and the Mean-Spirited trait has been renamed into Mean. Reward traits are no longer shown on the tooltip when you mouseover the aspiration. The aspiration icon for Popularity has been changed as well.

Also I've screencapped each of the walk styles from the preview video, but the demo has added two more walk styles and I have to do it all over again, sigh. Hopefully SimsVIP would write more details about these, or we could wait until the demo is released commercially. Nikel Talk Vote! 06:09, July 9, 2014 (UTC)

Codenames for traits

It might be good to have the codenames for each trait. Or at least the non-obvious ones. The general rule is that the codenames are written in what's known as CamelCode e.g. if you want to add the Gym Rat trait you'd type: GymRat e.g. traits.equip_trait GymRat

But this rule wasn't applied consistently and uniformly. For example some of the traits randomly have underscores in the middle (which is a hateful thing that programmers sometimes do to trip novice programmers up) Business_Savvy High_metabolism Quick_Learner web_Master

Moreover if you type in: traits.equip_trait Poetic it won't do anything because the codename is actually POET. Angler's Tranquility = AnglersTranquility so if someone types in: traits.equip_trait Angler'sTranquility (NB apostrophe in the middle) it won't work and it may well be difficult to understand *why* it didn't work. (This is very typical in computer programming - programming can be a massive pain in the *** to do because 1 character out of place can break your programme and the computer won't say why it's broken.) I wiped out my traits by mistake (and very easily) simply by modifying traits quickly using the CAS editor and then had to add them back manually. It was hard to get Poetic back.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.229.165.251 (talkcontribs) 19:21, November 9, 2014 (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~
