Differences between CAS previews and CAS demos
The CAS have undergone several changes from the older previews (such as the IGN video How To Create Your Perfect Sims in The Sims 4) and the recent CAS Demo video by SimsVIP I just watched. The trait icon for Lazy has been changed, and the Mean-Spirited trait has been renamed into Mean. Reward traits are no longer shown on the tooltip when you mouseover the aspiration. The aspiration icon for Popularity has been changed as well.
Also I've screencapped each of the walk styles from the preview video, but the demo has added two more walk styles and I have to do it all over again, sigh. Hopefully SimsVIP would write more details about these, or we could wait until the demo is released commercially. Nikel Talk – Vote! 06:09, July 9, 2014 (UTC)
Codenames for traits
It might be good to have the code names for each trait. Or at least the ones which aren't obvious. Normally, the code names are easy to work out - you just have to remove any space in the middle e.g. if you want to add the Gym Rat trait you'd type in the console: traits.equip_trait gymrat
However, some of them do not follow this logical 'no space' rule. This can make using the console arduous. For example Angler's Tranquility = AnglersTranquility so if someone types in: traits.equip_trait Angler'sTranquility (NB apostrophe in the middle) it won't work and it may well be difficult to understand *why* it didn't work. (This is very typical in computer programming - 1 character out of place can break your programme and the computer won't say why it's broken.)
I wiped out all my Sims' traits by mistake *Very* easily by using the CAS editor, which forced me to add them back manually but it was difficult because the trait code names aren't obvious. I think other people will have this problem - I saw one other person had posted in a forum about it:
Therefore, I'm going to search for all the difficult code names. Here are the non-obvious ones I've found:
Trait | Short code name | Long code name |
---|---|---|
Angler's Tranquility | angl | anglerstranquility (NB no apostrophe) |
Beloved | lege | legendary |
Business Savvy | bus | business_savvy (NB stupid underscore) |
Companion | ete | eternalbond |
Domestic | familys | familySim |
Family-Oriented | familyo | familyOriented (NB no hyphen) |
Handy | thek | theKnack |

Quick Learner | quic | quick_learner |

I like how they deliberately avoided "high"!
IMO, randomly inserting underscores into the middle of code names is a hateful thing that programmers sometimes do to trip novice programmers up. Anyway, below is a fuller list. To make it I got a list of code names that some kind player had posted on the internet and applied each one to my sim (on my PC). I guess he or she compiled the list from looking in a game file because otherwise how would she know that for example "invested" was a code name when the game never mentions the word? This means that further exploration may be possible by examining the game files somehow.

When I reached professionalSlacker, I accidentally typed in professional and suddenly realised that abbreviations are possible. So I've found the shortest abbreviations for all the non-obvious ones. Super Green Thumb the abbreviation is "up" so there are probably more out there. I'm really glad I isolated the code name for handy = theknack = thek - i tried a million words to no avail e.g. repairer, fixer etc. Thanks to whoever compiled the list of keywords before me. 80.229.165.251 (talk) 04:34, November 10, 2014 (UTC)
Bonus trait
It says bonus trait sticks to the Sim even if the aspiration is later changed. I think I wrote that, but that was based on SimGuruGraham's tweet. That tweet was way back during the game development, and as you know a lot of things may have changed between the development and the release versions; like when SimGuruGrant said we could eventually earn more than 3 traits in the game. Apparently we can, but that works for reward traits—not normal ones—so it was kind of misleading. Can anyone confirm this? If it's true, doesn't that mean we can exploit all bonus traits without fulfilling the aspirations? Nikel Talk – Vote! 05:37, February 19, 2015 (UTC)
Welll in sims a different trait can cause different interactions —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sims4blogger16 (talk • contribs) 04:55, January 5, 2018 (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~
Trait icons
Some trait icons seem to be outdated and need to be replaced: Seldom Sleepy (coffee), Never Weary (battery/energy drink), Forever Fresh (lavender?), Forever Full (stomach), Needs No One (two persons at distance), Father Winter's Baby (just snowy clouds). Those the ones I've found and there might be even more. --94.220.247.59 (talk) 17:19, December 4, 2018 (UTC)
Missing traits?
Can we confirm that this article isn't missing any visible traits for now? It took several months to include two of the Seasons related reward traits after all. --94.220.247.59 (talk) 17:19, December 4, 2018 (UTC)
- All of the trait lists should be updated, with the exception of satisfaction reward trait icons and hidden traits, I believe. - SimDestroyer (talk) 12:49, December 5, 2018 (UTC)
