A male teen Sim

Teenager is a life stage of a Sim in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.

The Sims 2

Teenager is the fourth life stage of a Sim in The Sims 2, and lasts for a maximum of 15 days. It has also been confirmed that in The Sims 3, this stage is available too.

  • When a Sim child becomes a teenager, their life aspiration is set by the player for the first time, and when Nightlife or later expansion packs are installed, turn-ons and turn-offs too.
  • The teenage stage is crucially important to a Sim's development, as romantic relationships can develop for the first time (and most teen Sims will have a recurring want for their first kiss) and - when University is installed - success at school and in skill building can earn valuable scholarship money.
  • Teens can also take a part time job.
  • Some teens have hygiene problems - they can get zits if hygiene drops. This adds an "use acne cream" option when using the mirror and the teen will act frightened when they "gussy up"
  • Some teens will run away if their relationship with their family is too low.
  • Teens can cook, drive a car (Nightlife Expansion Pack required), and use gym equipment.
  • They can live on their own if they become orphans or when all older Sims have moved out of the lot.
  • Teens are unique in that they can grow up into one of two separate ages: Adult or Young Adult, the former will happen if the teen does not go to University.

A Teen in The Sims 3

Teen is a featured life stage in The Sims 3. Teens can date and have a boyfriend/girlfriend as in the Sims 2. They can kiss, hug, flirt, etc. but as in the Sims 2, they can't Whoo-Hoo or get pregnant. (EA has to keep it's "Teen" Rating.) Teens have 4 traits. Their next life stage is Young Adult.
