Teleportation is instant movement from one place to another. In The Sims 3, teleportation can be used to reach any location on the map, while in earlier games, it is limited to the current lot.

In The Sims, it is an ability magical Sims can gain from the purple Crystal Clear Ability Rock in The Sims: Makin' Magic. Both children and adults can learn and use the ability, and it is available at any time with no preparation required. However, Sims who teleport may be fined if non-magical Sims see them do it, unless they are in Magic Town.

In The Sims 2 base game, teleportation is something Sims skilled in meditation can do after meditating for a while. It takes approximately 12 cumulative Sim hours of meditation for a Sim to gain enough skill to teleport. Once the skill is learned, a Sim will need to meditate for around one Sim hour before being able to teleport. After the Sim has teleported, he or she will still be meditating.

In The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, it is an ability that can be learned from the Ninja. Once learned, this ability is always available, and requires no preparation. In The Sims 2: Apartment Life, it is something that a witch can do by using the neutral spell Magivestigium. This spell requires no reagents and no casting time, but using it will shift a witch's alignment toward neutral.

While a meditating Sim or a witch using Magivestigium may teleport anywhere on a lot (except inside a neighbor's apartment), a Sim who has learned the ninja teleport cannot teleport to an area he or she cannot get to on foot. For example, Sims cannot use the ninja teleport to get to a room behind an opposite-gender door, or one hidden behind a rotating bookcase from Apartment Life, or one with no doors at all; nor can they use it to reach a balcony or window ledge with no door leading to it. This means that while it is the fastest method of teleportation in The Sims 2, it is nothing more than a faster method of travel.

In The Sims 3 base game, Sims can buy a teleportation pad for 75,000 lifetime reward points.

In The Sims 3: World Adventures, Sims who study Martial Arts can eventually learn Zeneportation and Tranquil Transference. Using these abilities requires the "Meditative Focus" moodlet.
