Mermaids are a life state introduced in The Sims 3: Island Paradise. Mermaids are native to the sea, and have a colorful scaly fish-like tail while in the water. They are excellent swimmers and divers, and are able to breathe and survive underwater indefinitely. They can venture onto land, but must return to the ocean periodically or they will eventually become a non-mermaid.
