These policies specifically apply to members of the Administrative team (including Administrators and Bureaucrats). Changes to these policies should be proposed and discussed on the talk page.

Administrator resignation and reinstatement policy
Users who have been given a sysop or bureaucrat rank (administrators, collectively) and who are in good standing on the wiki may resign their user rights at any time. Resigning administrators should remove their own rights in Special:Userrights, and leave a message on the Admin Portal talk page or the administrator's noticeboard announcing their resignation.

Resigned administrators are allowed to reclaim their resigned rights within six months of when they resigned, by posting a message to the administrator's noticeboard. Resigned administrators who resigned more than six months prior must start new RfAs and RfBs in order to regain their rights. Bureaucrats may choose to resign bureaucrat rights while still retaining sysop rights; resigned bureaucrats may request automatic reinstatement of bureaucrat rights within six months of resignation, but must undergo a new RfB if rights were resigned more than six months prior.

Resigning administrators retain rollback rights by default, unless they choose to resign these rights as well. If a resigning administrator obtained Chat moderator or IRC operator rights prior to and/or separate from their administrative rights, these rights will be retained unless resigned.

;Community override
Resigned administrators may request rights back under the policy above as long as they are in 'good standing' on the wiki. If an administrator abuses their user rights or violates wiki policy and resigns to avoid punishment, or violated wiki policy after their resignation, the community may decide to revoke the resigned administrator's ability to automatically request rights back.

The Administrator Resignation and Reinstatement Policy has taken effect as of July 12, 2014. It was enacted as a result of this forum thread.

Inactive Administrator Policy
Info
In order to ensure that most, if not all, administrators on SITENAME are active participants in the community, SITENAME has adopted an Inactive Administrator Policy. The policy is as follows:

# All administrators are expected to remain as active contributors to the content namespace on the wiki, as well as active participants in the wiki community. Bureaucrats shall, on an individual basis, determine if an administrator has become inactive and shall notify the administrator of their inactivity.
# Admins should be given a reminder up to a week before their rights are to be revoked.
# A former admin can immediately regain their status by contacting a bureaucrat and declaring their intention to return to active duty if the absence is less than six (6) months. If they are inactive for longer than six months, they will have to reapply.
# If an admin knows they will be inactive for a prolonged/unknown period of time (3 months or longer), they should step down and they may request to be reinstated at any time. A user who has been absent for 3 months, who hadn't stepped down beforehand, will have their rights revoked as if they had become inactive and they'll have 6 months to request to be reinstated before they're required to go through another RfA. Special cases to extend or revoke an administratorship may be brought to the attention of current administrators. If an administrator is banned permanently from SITENAME, their rights are automatically revoked.

The Inactive Administrator Policy has taken effect as of August 28, 2010, and was amended on the 20th of May, 2012. It is no longer in effect.
