New policy proposals are to be made on this page. This is not the correct location to propose changes to already-existing policies.

Creation

  • New policies may be proposed by any active user.
  • Policy proposals should be made on this page. Proposed policies go through a similar community discussion and consensus process as policy amendments.
  • Once a policy has been consented to by the community, it takes effect immediately unless the proposal or subsequent consensus calls for a grace period or a certain length of time before the policy takes effect.
  • All new policies must obtain community consensus before they become official policy - Administrators and Bureaucrats may not add new policies without consent.

Images Policy

Moved from the Comm. Portal talk page

I have just been editing many images, categorising and licensing them, and I feel that it is time we should introduce an images policy. Some things I feel that could be included in the policy include:

  • What action to be taken against users who don't categorise or license their images(I know blocks are a bit harsh, but I can't see another way)
  • What action to be taken against users who use generic filenames,
  • What to do with unused images(should we delete them, or use them?)
  • And if we should or should not have images not related to the sims.

Thoughts? --WH (Talk) 02:17, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

My opinions on this are as followed:
  • I oppose action being taken against users who don't categorize or license their images, though I support them being given possible warnings if the behaviour continues.
  • I believe that no action should be taken against users who upload images with generic filenames, though the user should be notified that their image has been moved.
  • I believe that unused images should be added to articles if of good quality and there's an article relating to them. If not, deleted.
  • If the photos not related to The Sims series are used on a page then I believe they should be allowed, though if unused they should be deleted. --Bleeh(talk) (blog) 02:24, May 14, 2011 (UTC)
I agree with Bleeh's opinions. —Random Ranaun (Talk to me!) 01:16, May 16, 2011 (UTC)

Comments Policy

Article Comments have been enabled almost half a month ago, but have been in Blog posts for a long while. So, I think a Comments Policy is long overdue. Here is what I think the basic rules should be:

  1. Keep proper language - users won't be able to understand what your comment is about if your comment has terrible spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  2. No inflammatory comments - don't be critical just for the sake of being critical. If you have a problem with the article or blog, carefully explain it in the comment.
  3. No profanity - the wiki caters to a general audience.
  4. Don't spam - comments that advertise non-wiki websites, or repeated comments that are just nonsense, are considered spam and will be deleted immediately.
  5. No irrelevant comments - make sure the comment in question is actually about the article or blog post, comments about anything else will be deleted.
  6. Don't flood - if you wish to make a large change to a comment you have written, don't write it in a reply. Simply contact an administrator and tell them what the change is. If you purpose flood the comments, such as writing one word each comment, they will be deleted.

That's all I have so far. Anyone have any additions or suggestions? —Random Ranaun (Talk to me!) 06:05, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
