Sysop Yes Open to requests.

Administrator requests are almost always open on The Sims Wiki.

Minimum requirements

If you have proven yourself to be a valuable member of the community, and you think you're capable of doing the job, this is where to apply. Minimum requirements are:

  • Average or higher wiki editing knowledge.
This means you have to have contributed regularly to some wiki (not necessarily this one).
  • Having started to contribute on The Sims Wiki (edits in the content namespace are not taken too seriously).
  • Your first edit on The Sims Wiki should not be your application on this page.
  • Understandable, (almost 100%) correct English all the time.
  • If u talk liek dis, ur not rdy 2 bcome admin
  • Playing the game is nice, since you'll be editing and making decisions based on the game's content.
  • Be able to expand articles to make them more useful for the community.
  • You should not copy articles from Wikipedia and paste them here.

Stage 1: Nominating

  1. Users may nominate themselves or be nominated by another user for administratorship. The nominee then has to accept the nomination before voting can begin.
  2. If the nominee accepts the nomination, they should also choose two Administrative projects when stating their acceptance.
  3. Multiple requests at one time are allowed.
  4. Administrator candidates that are not given administrator privileges are ineligible to be nominated or to nominate themselves for at least a month.

Stage 2: Voting

  1. Users may vote in support, be neutral, or oppose the bureaucratship nomination. Users must provide a reason behind their position.
  2. Users must have 50 edits and be a regular contributor for a month to be able to vote or nominate. Users who have been absent for extended periods of time (3 months or more) will be considered as "new users" for the purposes of RfA and must make 50 edits and be contributor for a further month before voting.
  3. Everyone's vote counts as one vote. Admins do not hold extra power.
  4. A bureaucrat will then determine whether consensus has been reached. This means that administrator requests require at least a two-thirds support rate to pass. Strength of argument is more important than the number of votes.
  5. Admins and bureaucrats may nominate and/or vote on a nomination. However, a bureaucrat who votes on a nomination and later reviews the nomination must review according to the vote result, not their personal opinion of the nominee.
  6. A vote on an RfA shall last for 1 week.

What you will do as an admin

  • Revert vandalism, warn and/or block vandals.
  • Move pages to correct page names, delete unnecessary redirects.
  • Have a strong voice when decisions have to be made.
  • Represent The Sims Wiki well in the Wikia and internet community.

What you may not do as an admin

  • Use your administrator privileges to take advantage of users or to control the wiki.
  • Ignore the needs and wants of wiki users.
  • Act as a poor representative of The Sims Wiki on other wikis, or participate in major cross-wiki drama.

More info and a list of current admins can be found at Administrators.

Positions available

Additionally, some special positions are available for administrators and members of the community. These are filled on the Requests for special positions page, though users requesting administratorship here may in their request ask for one or more of these positions. List of positions and their responsibilities is available on this page. Willingness to take on special duties may make you more likely to be selected.

Open requests

Be sure to include two administrative projects you'd like to apply for, in your request

The vote on this promotion will end on 19:33, May 12, 2012.

I would like to nominate Starmoonie for administratorship. She has been here since February and is evidently committed to ensuring that we are a good reference for information. She also has rollback, is currently one of our most active users and hasn't engaged in any drama whatsoever and I think she would do a good job as an administrator. I accept. If I am accepted I would also like to request the following projects to be assigned to me: Image and File Maintenance and Fanon Administration, thank you. ---Starmoonie 19:33, May 5, 2012 (UTC)

Hello there, I am DanPin and I am a long time user of the wiki. I think I am ready to take this leap and apply, because if I were asked to do this a few months back, I wouldn't do it. However, I believe I can pull it off right now.

I would like to apply to the Community Development and Fanon Administration administrative projects, since these are the areas I am most familiar with. I, like any other user, have my qualities and my flaws, which I will refer to right away:

My qualities:

  • I have a good knowledge of English;
  • I am the Ombudsman in here - which means I can settle disputes between users;
  • Alongside MTDM, I run the Newsletter;
  • I started editing on July 30th, 2010 (i.e. for over a year and a half);
  • When I see vandalism in pages, I try to undo those edits;
  • I usually play all three main games (TS1, TS2 and TS3) for PC;
  • I have a bit of experience with templates and a lot of experience with Fanon articles.

My flaws:

  • I sometimes not edit that much (which is reflected on my edit count);
  • I can get grounded off-wiki sometimes, but if that happens I try my best to leave a notice.

So, since I think that all has been said, I'll now leave this request for you. DanPintalkcontribs 20:22, March 1, 2012 (UTC)

Strong Support - You're definitely one of the best editors and an active and known member of the community. If anyone deserves adminship, it's you. :) —Random Ranaun (Talk to me!) 20:34, March 1, 2012 (UTC)
Strong Support - I feel you are capable for it. Also, it shows you are humble when you indicate your flaws on the request too, I definitely like that. (: --RoseGui (talk here) 20:36, March 1, 2012 (UTC)
Support - Your heart is in the right place but I'm really not sure. I'm not doubting your abilities when it comes to a situation where you have to use your admin tools but something tells me you may want administrator flags a little bit too much, based on an IRC quit message I distinctly remember saying that "when RfA opens on TSW, I'll apply" which you used for quite some time as well as your persistence in wanting RfA to be opened so you could apply (again an IRC thing). However, afaik you haven't been involved in any major conflict with any user on-wiki or IRC, which is a very good thing. Sorry if I sound too harsh but I felt I needed to get this off my chest. Otherwise, good luck with the request! I don't know what I was going through there but I've given this some more thought and I think you'll do well as an admin. You're a very friendly person who hasn't gotten involved in any drama (as I stated earlier) and you know what, I'd go as far as calling myself stupid for placing that neutral vote earlier. Maybe I did overreact on "wanting it too much" - I think anyone who'd apply would want it. Forget my negativity earlier, I have faith in you. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 20:44, March 1, 2012 (UTC)
Support - You make good edits, you're active, and you use English very fluently (I thought you were a native speaker until you told me you were from Portugal - I was completely surprised). As for stating that he wanted to apply, I don't see a problem with having a little bit of ambition, as long as it's not over-done. So, I'm in favor of this request. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 21:45, March 1, 2012 (UTC)

I don't have any issues with this, and consensus is obviously in support. I'm going to be approving this request. ђ talk 05:08, March 2, 2012 (UTC)
