:Fron looking at the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paint_%28software%29 Wikipedia article], Paint does not support transparancy in GIF or PNG files (it is known as "alpha channel" in PNG). I suggest using [http://www.gimp.org/ GIMP], which is basically a free version of Photoshop and it supports transparancy/alpha channel in PNG files.
