The Sims Wiki talk:New skin
Revision of article style[edit source]
This space is for ideas or comments related to how the style of articles on The Sims Wiki should be changed to fit the new skin.
- Some of the message templates (ex. {{ron}}) are too wide and are overlapping with infoboxes. They should be narrowed or moved below the infobox. --a_morris (talk) 01:01, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
- Collapsible infoboxes. This was an idea I had a while ago. Vertically or horizontally, it would give more width to the text of the article. --a_morris (talk) 01:01, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
- I think I'd prefer the vertical boxes, but it is an interesting idea. Dharden (talk) 02:09, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
- I've noticed, even before the new skin, that {{ron}} seem to overlap the infoboxes - it seemed a minor issue to me at the time. However, I think the collapsible infobox is a really cool idea. Do you have a working example of one in action? -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 03:28, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
- edit: Never Mind, I found it: User:A_morris/Collapsible_Sim_infobox. I like the vertical collapsing, since it falls more in-line with what readers will be accustomed to. Is there any way to have an "expand all" or "collapse all" button? -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 03:43, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
- Is this still a possibility? Since most people are (probably) on Oasis by now, we should settle on a solution to this soon. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 23:43, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

[edit source]
This space is designated for discussing how The Sims Wiki can improve navigation under the new skin.
Themes and styles[edit source]
This space is for feedback regarding the theme used by the new skin (i.e. the colors and fonts used, the logo, etc).
I would like to suggest that the background color be changed to a color that will provide more contrast than the pale green background does, or that the normal text use a darker/bolder font, or both. As it is, the low contrast between background and normal text may cause problems for readers, like me, whose eyes are no longer young. We have to assume that some people who find pages by way of Google links will be older, and may not be able to read low-contrast pages as well as younger folks can. Dharden (talk) 06:28, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
- I agree on a color change for the background. that plale or lime green is not appealing at all and it may cause strain on the eyes and headaches for some people. A grey background would be much better and easier on the eyes.Bafendo 06:31, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
- Color has been changed to a light gray (hex #F9F9F9) --LostInRiverview talk · blog 18:19, October 11, 2010 (UTC)
Main page[edit source]
This space is meant for discussion of how the Main Page should be laid out under the new skin.
Upcoming Games[edit source]
The list of soon-to-be-released games (which is {{News-upcoming}}) clashes with The Sims Wiki News blog display on the main page. Should the Upcoming Games feature be given its own section, merged with The Sims News section above it, or eliminated entirely? -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 23:36, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
Questions and Issues[edit source]
Technical problems or issues regarding the new skin belong here. Note that you may be referred to the Community Central Forum or be instructed to contact Wikia staff directly regarding technical issues.
Oasis[edit source]
- Moved from The Sims Wiki talk:Community Portal#Oasis
Is it just me or has the New Skin stopped working on this Wiki? It is OK on Community Central. GEORGIEGIBBONS talk contributions 15:36, October 13, 2010 (UTC)
- It's working fine on my machine with my browser. Maybe you're having a browser problem, or it might be an issue regarding updates that Wikia is likely making to the skin while it's still in beta. Can you elaborate on the problem in more detail? -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 18:04, October 13, 2010 (UTC)
- I'm having the same problem. It's set to the new look, but appears as monico. BobNewbie (talk)(blog) 18:08, October 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Just work in Monaco for now. I'd also suggest using Special:Contact if the skin in any way prevents you from editing on the Wiki. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 18:15, October 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Its working fine, I can edit. BobNewbie (talk)(blog) 18:17, October 13, 2010 (UTC)
- Working again. BobNewbie (talk)(blog) 19:17, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Scrolling[edit source]
Is anybody else encountering issues with scrolling using the arrow keys? And if so, did you fix it in any way? --Cheesepie1011 04:10, October 14, 2010 (UTC)
Email[edit source]
I know the ability to email users is still present, but the "Email user" link seems to have gone missing. Has anyone else noticed this? Dharden (talk) 20:33, November 15, 2010 (UTC)
