Fatal Flaw
A Fatal Flaw is special trait that every character starts with in The Sims Medieval.
Fatal Flaws are similar to negative traits in The Sims 3 . There are several kinds of Fatal Flaws:
- There are some that make the Hero Sim's motives (Energy or Hunger) to be more difficult to fulfill. These are Insomniac and Glutton.
- There are some that make the Hero Sim have special needs to fulfill, giving a negative buff when they are not being fulfilled: Drunkard, Compulsive gambler, Bloodthirsty, Cowardly, Insecure, Licentious, and Cruel. However they give a positive buff when the need is fulfilled, usually higher than the one that a Sim without that Fatal Flaw will receive.
- There are some that penalize certain actions, these are Misanthrope, Puny, Uncouth and Weak Constitution.
Some others have a special effect: Hubris and Morose gives a negative buff every few time, Cursed makes the hero fail a lot when performing actions and Fool makes the hero get distracted and forget what he/she was doing.
Although it's not considered a Fatal Flaw, Whale Ate My Parents behaves like one (the kind that gives special needs to fulfill). Player notes
Fatal Flaws that can't be "satisfied" and give random and constant negative buffs are by far the worst ones to handle, such as Hubris and Morose. For example, Hubris sometimes can give a -40 buff for 3 hours, which can make quest performance drop drastically
Also, the ones that mess with motives, as Insomniac, Glutton and Weak Constitution, are quite difficult to handle.
Fool seems the most harmless Fatal Flaw. It randomly drops the action queue for the Hero Sim, and that can be noticed easily. According to the tutorual there is a quest were the fatal flaw can be elemanated for your hero sim you chose to do the quest
