Now that the fallout from yesterday is starting to die down, we can get down to business with some serious news for once. Heh. Sorry to be a killjoy here.

<insert image here>
We didn't have too many April Fools pranks on the wiki itself. User:K6ka was flipped around in random directions for the entire day. The bulk of our April Foolery was on our Discord server, where we had created an entire channel category of "Very Off Topic" channels ranging from topics like the weather to how I complain about everything. <small>Look, the last one is not true, m'kay?</small>

We have a couple of community discussion threads open in our community discussion forum where we discuss community discussions about how to discuss improvements to the community in community discussions... okay, that was pretty loaded.

* There is a formal request to disable Featured Videos on the wiki. Back in December I wrote about how we proposed a formal request to have the highly unpopular Featured Video feature disabled on the wiki. In the meantime I have created a template called Featured video notice which displays a notice below articles where a featured video is known to exist, telling readers that the video was not approved or created by the community of The Sims Wiki.
* There is a thread to discuss how to separate and organize pages for Sims that appear in multiple games (since The Sims 4's deviation from the normal storyline has tripped us up since 2014).
* There is a thread on potentially migrating The Sims Wiki off the Wikia platform to a new hosting service.

The wiki runs entirely on volunteer edits—ordinary people like you and me! Anyone is welcome to participate in these discussions to help reach a consensus on how we as a wiki can move forward.

Check back later to see what April 2019's featured article is going to be! To nominate or vote for an article, read the instructions here, and then either make a nomination or vote for an existing one.

March saw the first new server moderator since the server went public in December of 2017. Please welcome TheMarmaliser to the server moderation team! TheMarmaliser has been around for a while and you may have seen him around the server. Among being a friendly face, he's also the reason why the #urban_planning and #planes-and-airlines channels exist. Not Sims related, sure, but we do talk about a lot more than The Sims on the server.

Additionally, the server rules have been rewritten; it should now be much easier to read and not sound like legalese. You can also view a copy of these rules on the #rules channel in the server.

If you have any other suggestions as to how we can improve the server, please let us know in the #server_feedback channel on the server! And if you're not in the server yet, well... you're missing out on a whole lot!

April is a time for...
...opening the windows and letting the spring air in
...preparing for the long winter months ahead
...going outside more and appreciating the great outdoors
...staying indoors and gaming 'till you drop
...stressing over finals and exams
