User:K6ka/What to do if the welcome bot is down

Sometimes, Wikia's bots just stop working, and they no longer welcome new users to the wiki. Because we value newcomers, it's important that they receive that warm welcome to the wiki. If the bot is down, us durable humans need to take the job into our own hands.

If the user is an anonymous user (identified by an IP address), just add {{subst:WelcomeIP}} to their user talk page. You do not need to sign it using four tildes (~~~~) as the template automatically comes with one.

If the user is a new, registered user - check their user profile header. If they have the flags "VSTF", "HELPER", "STAFF", "WIKI MANAGER", or "CONTENT TEAM MEMBER" it is not necessary to leave them a welcome message. Otherwise, add {{subst:Welcome|the username of the user being welcomed|The title of the page they first edited, even if it's a comment}}. Again, you do not need to sign as the template does this automatically. You should also add {{subst:MediaWiki:Welcome-user-page}} to their user page.

Sometimes the bot might edit after you welcome the user and welcome users twice. Patrol Special:Contributions/FANDOM and revert any welcoming edit that does not create a new page. That usually means the bot welcomed a user that had already been welcomed manually.

Thanks.
