The Sims Wiki

There have been a number of very recent developments here on The Sims Wiki. Here's a breakdown of recent events.

Farewell[edit source]

Within the past day, BobNewbie (talk · contribs · editcount · block · modify rights · logs · block log), our Community Director, has announced that he is leaving the wiki for personal reasons. We wish him the best of luck and success, and are ready to welcome him back to the Wiki at any time in the future, if he should wish to return. We also thank him for the positive contributions he's made here on TSW, especially in his time as the Community Director.

Community Director[edit source]

As a result of BobNewbie's departure, the position of Community Director is currently vacant. The Community Director can be any user who is active in our community; if you feel like going out for the position and know that you can take on director responsibilities, then put an application here.

This is also a reminder that the positions of Forum Moderator and Ombudsman remain open; Please go to the Requests for special positions page if you're interested in taking either of these positions!

Adopt-a-Contest[edit source]

BobNewbie was also the creator of a User Created Contest - Simvivor. Since all contests need someone to help manage them, this contest will need someone who is dedicated to monitoring and updating it from time-to-time. The administrators can keep an eye on the contest until someone formally adopts it, but having someone take it over relatively soon would be appreciated. If you're interested in adopting the contest, please contact LostInRiverview (talk) to make arrangements.

Newsletter update[edit source]

The first edition of the renewed Sims Wiki Newsletter was a success; be sure to give it a read! LostInRiverview (talk · contribs · editcount · block · modify rights · logs · block log) will be managing the newsletter unless another member of the community wishes to adopt it - if you wish to take over managing the newsletter, please contact him on his talk page. Additionally, ideas are already being sought for February's edition of the newsletter; if you have a story related to The Sims series or to The Sims Wiki, go here to add your submission. February's newsletter should go public sometime in mid-February; stay tuned for more info!

New MediaWiki version[edit source]

As many administrators here at TSW can frustratingly tell you, Wikia has recently updated this wiki to a new version of MediaWiki - MediaWiki is the base software that is used to build this and all other Wikia wikis, as well as Wikipedia. This means that some bugs, both minor and quite major, have popped up and may continue to appear. If something happens on this wiki that seems 'odd' to you, don't hesitate to contact an administrator or bureaucrat so we can check it out and (possibly) try to fix it. Also, we ask for your patience if any of these bugs causes the wiki to run more slowly, not function correctly or to temporarily block you from editing; the admins here don't have any control over when these things happen, and are often just as irritated by them as anyone else (or even more!). Since we've already been updated, hopefully most bugs have already been solved.

Current Discussions[edit source]

There are a number of things being discussed here on The Sims Wiki. Check them out and give your opinion!

If I've missed anything, shoot me a message and I'll tack it on, or else add it to a future news update.
