To readers of The Sims Wiki I speak for the staff of this wiki in apologizing for improperly presenting incorrect information regarding the official announcement of The Sims 3: Generations. We pride ourselves here on providing the best and most accurate information, but even the best of us can get it wrong every once in a while, and pick up on some information that isn't accurate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. In response to this incident, we will now be more fully enforcing this rule, and will demand official confirmation before pages be added. Below is the original text from a news blog post I made regarding the supposed announcement of The Sims 3: Generations. This official confirmation, it turns out, has not been made (at least, not yet). Following The Sims Wiki's accepted guidelines regarding this matter, I have reverted the page on The Sims 3: Generations to a re-direct and will insist that the page not be re-created until official confirmation is made. This must be in the form of a direct link to a news page or press release page on www.thesims3.com or www.ea.com. This is the only acceptable form of official confirmation; confirmation cannot come from 3rd party websites. Props go to Dentface for being the person to create the page after the initial announcement; congrats on getting there quicker than anyone else! Anyways, with Medieval rapidly approaching, and now the announcement of Generations, it seems like a perfect time to remind everyone of TSW's guidelines regarding references for developing titles. Prior to a game release, there are a lot of rumors about a game and its content... some of them are true, but many are false. Therefore, TSW has decided that only information which is cited from a reputable source should be included on content pages for unreleased games and content. This rule also applies to reported objects, Sims or neighborhoods within games: unless it has been reported by a trustworthy source, don't create pages for them or include them on existing pages. Thanks for cooperating with these rules, and ensuring that The Sims Wiki continues to be a top-quality source of information about these new games.
