Week of 13th December, 2013

Surprise! No news this week! It looks like we may have forgotten to write a weekly news blog. But, as they always say, better late than never!

Sims universe news[edit source]

Roaring Heights is out. The latest Maxis store world is available to download now. As usual, this world comes in Standard and Gold bundles. This time, however, the price of the worlds is being listed in real currency, not SimPoints. The price in US$ is currently $20.00 for the Standard set (including 100 SimPoints) and $35.00 for the Gold set - which includes 1900 SimPoints and the "Boardwalk Attire" clothing set. Speaking of boardwalk...

"Boardwalk" venue has been released. This pack costs, conveniently, 1900 SimPoints, and includes the Boardwalk venue as well as some additional items, including track pieces for custom roller coasters.

SimCity Update 9 has been released. This update to SimCity has some bugfixes, mostly to features introduced in the most recent expansion pack, but it also includes the "Attractions Set" addition free-of-charge. Read more about it here.

New Mainpage design. In order to adjust to the new Fluid Layout, the Main Page has been re-organized to look better at all screen resolutions. Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Requests for Chat Moderator and IRC Operator are re-opened, and changes to the process have been made. There was an ongoing community discussion regarding changes to Chat Moderator and IRC channel operator nomination and selection processes. The requests pages were closed at the beginning of the discussion, until a resolution could be reached. Due to that discussion, a few changes have been implemented in the requests pages, the most significant of these changes being a move away from selection based off votes, moving instead towards a discussion-based approach. This means our RfCM and RfIRCOPS requests will be treated much in the same way as our RFAs and RFBs were already. Since the discussion of those changes has wrapped up, the requests pages are once again open for application or nomination.

Changes to user blogs. In the coming days, there will be some additional categories added for user blog posts. These categories will allow users to write and highlight blogs focused on specific topics - these topics will include game reviews, useful tips and tricks, opinion blogs, and more! In the meantime, the categories used for blog posts have been changed - if you're an avid blog-writer or want to get started, be sure to note the names of the new blog categories.
