Baker's Station and Baker's Bazaar Collection

If you have the Savvy Seller's Collection from Midnight Hollow, a replacement for Open for Business EP, you'd realize that the set doesn't allow you to sell food and make a bakery. Well, now you can! The Store team introduced the Baker's Station and Baker's Bazaar Collection premium contents!

First, these two store contents are considered separate for some reason. They're part of a store venue, so you won't get these parts separately anyway. EA is a genius. Instead of making this bakery thing functional alongside the crappy business system we got with Midnight Hollow, they separated this stuff so they can actually make more profit$! Also, remember the last premium content, which includes a lot of new harvestables? That set works well with this. Another brilliant idea. You want to fulfill your Sim's experience to the fullest? Collect all the sets! Collect 'em all!

So what is this set, actually? There's this Baker's Station oven, which lets your Sim to bake special food (these food can only be made from this oven FWIW). Here's the list of food that can be baked from the oven:

Cobbler Pie Bread Cake Cookies Other desserts
  • Apple Cobbler
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Plasma Cobbler
  • Plum Cobbler
  • Pear Cobbler
  • Lemon Cobbler
  • Blueberry Cobbler
  • Raspberry Cobbler
  • Strawberry Cobbler
  • Apple Pie
  • Banana Cream Pie
  • Cherry Pie
  • Plum Pie
  • Pomegranate Pie
  • Strawberry Pie
  • Raspberry Pie
  • Pear Pie
  • Blueberry Pie
  • Pecan Pie
  • Chocolate Pie
  • Peach Pie
  • Orange Pie
  • Life Fruit Pie
  • Blackberry Pie

  • White Bread
  • Dinner Roll
  • Birthday Cake
  • Wedding Cake

Some recipes require ingredients that are EP or Store-exclusive. I like how EA made EP fruits compatible with this set, like pomegranate from World Adventures. The sets that unlock recipes include Monte Vista's Wood Fire Oven, Harvest Stands, Grandpa's Grove, and Bohemian Garden. Too bad though, the Cinnamon Roll doesn't use cinnamon from University Life.

And then there's food display case. You can display your food there, and it will never get spoiled... until it's removed from the display, that is. Other Sims may browse and buy the food. Since this doesn't implement real business system, unlike Open for Business, Sims can't restock it. You have to restock it yourself from the inventory by dragging it into the display case. The set also contains a cash register. You can hire a townie to tend the register, although I'm pretty sure Sims can buy the food straight from the display case. You also get 2 special rugs from this set. Any food placed on the rug can be marked for sale, even if it's above a counter, considering the counter is placed on the rug.

These sets come with a venue, Deliciously Indulgent Bakery. The venue and sets cost 1,900 SimPoints, and unlike previous sets, this one isn't on sale.

There isn't much to say for the venue and sets. Personally, I think it's kinda so-so. The idea is good, but the implementation isn't so good. My concern is that since community lots are always empty, chances are you won't have any customers at all. You can run the bakery in either community or residential lot, and the latter lets you invite over your friends as potential customers. My other concern is that since the baked goods are stored in the inventory when bought, townies' inventories will be full of the food (considering they buy any), and the food will eventually get spoiled. If you don't play with mods, it's fine since the game will periodically delete stuff from townies' inventories anyway (not fine for my taste though!), but if you play the game with mods like Overwatch or AwesomeMod, the spoiled food stays. I haven't heard the report that the food will or will not get spoiled, so take it as a precaution.
