Re: Main Page

Wikia is currently redesigning Main Pages so that navigation is used by using images, where visitors just have to click images to be taken to a category, which is what the new Main Page does. We are also trying to reduce the number of links on Main Pages to under 100 as Google says this helps with search results. All this is to improve "search engine optimization" (SEO), which helps the wiki have a better search result when searching for Sims-related key words. If you want, I can move stuff around; want me to switch "Featured Media" with something on the right-column?--Richard^talk 16:30, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Bayoubash - This town is filled with beatniks and hippies! TALK - What a frivolous folly! Actually, they're quite different. In The Sims, faces and hairs are one, so it is called a head. Every head has it's own unique mesh, and some share the same mesh. They do not move because they are painted like pictures. In The Sims 2, we can actually sculpt the faces, noses, eyes, mouths, etc. So if you ask me, there is no bad game. They are unique in their own ways. Remember, never judge a book by it's cover.

Removing content due to signatures

Removing content because a user does not use a signature you approve of is not a valid reason to do so. It is the policy of all wikis to assume good faith. Military page

When I came across that page, it was way messed up (see the history)... adding the cleanup template made it look worse, but it was really a choice between bad or really bad, so don't blow up on me about it.

Sorry about that. Guess I wasn't paying attention. My idea was to rollback, but since I'm new here I was/am unaware of policy on that sort of thing. It would be pretty obvious what to do if, say, someone had come in and had totally vandalized the page, but in this situation I really wasn't sure what I should or could do. I don't know if I can rollback or not... I've never tried it, since I'm not sure if I can. If anyone can edit anything, then it seems like it would make sense for anyone to be able to roll it back, but I am unsure.

If you actually look at the pages, up until the IP edit, everything looks fine. Their first edit adds the repeated m at the bottom, and the second one totally messes the page up. LostInRiverview 19:41, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

I don't know what's wrong with it. I'm looking at everything and it still doesn't make sense why it's all messed up. I'm just going to leave it until someone who knows what they're doing comes and takes a look at it, because I've tried monkeying around with this and that and nothing seems to help much. I have fixed the page. A note about the rollback function - it will rollback all edits made by the last user. Using it to fix the vandalism on the Military page would have only reversed LostuinRiverview's edits not the original vandals. To revert vandalism done by multiple users the easiest way is to use the undo function on the history page. Using the radio buttons and then compare version you can undo multiple edits. --a_morris (talk) 21:48, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Neuter Sims

I have changed Bob Bramble's gender back to neuter as the Sims Wiki defines neuter as: Sims who (through a glitch) have the appearance of one gender but act like the other.

List of Traits, French family

Maybe well known to others, but not everyone. Why not change 'examples' to 'everyone with <trait>'? There should be a single page with every pre-made Sims 3 character's traits; it would basically be a convenient compilation of information that's already on the wiki (though scattered on every individual Sim's article) and it would make things like finding good matches for families easier.--Bunnyboi 14:15, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

About player stories

One of the reasons I implemented placing player stories on subpages was so editors would not have to worry about or fix the bad grammar in them. If that is something you want to do you may feel free to do so but I don't think the stories should be removed because of it. --a_morris (talk) 14:59, October 18, 2009 (UTC)

Madison Fortuna

I have sims 2 and my family are vampires except for my kids. But i want to make them vampires. Life States in The Sims (re: Beauty or Beast charm)

1) No, it's not the same thing. I suppose it's up to individual players to decide whether to treat Beauty or Beast as a transformation or an illusion, but it's not the same thing.

Altos in TS2?

It appears that the bits about Vita Alto's urn being found in Pleasantview were posted by 68.13.221.137 . I asked, and got a nice reply, which I'll summarize. This person saw the information in one of the Alto Family theories, but can't check it because they no longer have TS2, and was hoping that other users would be able to find it if it's really there to be found. Most of the images that are uploaded come form the games. I would rather have users add that copyright and then change a few images than not and have to add it to 1000. --a_morris (talk) 14:26, January 4, 2010 (UTC)

Well after a few days on the wiki i requested to be an admin and during that time I sent Dhardan a message which A Morris didn't think was to nice. I was denied to be an admin and I sent a message to A morris about not being very happy and then i sent her 4 more messages in which she responed to none of them. I apologized to Dhardan and were no longer heated. A Morris is incredibly annoyed or dissapointed with me. She hasn't replied to any of my messages and even blocked me after my incident with Dhardan. Even the messages concerning the wiki she did not respond to! BTW my real name is Jacob.

I noticed that you blocked an IP for a year. It is our policy to only block users for 3 days and since many editors can share an IP, they shouldn't be blocked for so long. JEA13 TALK - If you want to become an admin, start editing some more. Go to the Sims Wiki News section and start helping with the uncategorised images, take part at a project, go to the community portal and find some ways to be helpful to the wiki, not the other users. That is what users need to do before getting recognition. Nobody becomes an admin for nothing. And stop harassment. You have a past with some harassment, don't you? You'll need to give users who are angry at you some time to chill before starting to talk to em again.

There's always a way to help a wiki. :) And honestly, although you may be kind (I don't know you that well) you have proved to be annoying to a couple of users in the past.
