The Sims 4 icons
Where did you get the lot assignment icons from? Did you extract them yourself? :o Nikel Talk – Vote! 05:25, February 21, 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah! I extracted them from the Package files using S4PE. Unfortunately nothing is named in those files so I had to look deeply through the files. I found tons of icons including relationships and regular icons. Tons more I haven't extracted yet. UltraGamingKid (talk) 05:36, February 21, 2015 (UTC)
- Unnamed? That must have been quite a work there. If you come across trait, career, and skill icons, could you kindly extract and upload them here? :) No need to rush though. I'd be thankful if you can! I wish I could do it myself, but I don't have TS4 and no one has uploaded the icon pack on the Internet. Nikel Talk – Vote! 05:59, February 21, 2015 (UTC)
- I'm rummaging through my icons and finding skills and traits. I'll have to go back through the files again. I could also upload the icons on MTS once I extract all the icons for base game and outdoor retreat into folders. I also am naming them by their appearance when I upload them to MTS. Then for TSW I'll name them by the appropriate name by taking screen caps ingame. UltraGamingKid (talk) 06:10, February 21, 2015 (UTC)
- Now the Sim infoboxes will generate trait icons corresponding to the trait, thanks to you! :) I renamed all the icons you uploaded to be more precise and consistent. I was going to fix the file names in your userpage, but you seem to have removed it while I was about to do it.
- That's totally awesome! Problem is currently I cannot find the Squeamish icon in S4PE, I found OR icons, but that one seems to be missing. For the bonus and reward traits do you want the gold or regular versions. I have yet to extract the gold versions. Also you forgot to rename the Ambitious trait! We also haven't made a template for TS4 Traits yet. Should I include tabs for bonus and reward traits? I'm trying to update the trait userbox list. UltraGamingKid (talk) 04:13, February 27, 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, I forgot that one. :p I don't know if there's a gold version, but I think we need a regular one. This reminds me that we also need aspiration icons. Sorry for the trouble. :/
- By the way, look what got accepted on MTS! http://bootstrap.modthesims.info/download.php?t=549037 UltraGamingKid (talk) 04:45, February 27, 2015 (UTC)
Oh, that template. I don't think we need them at the moment. There has not been any plans to separate each trait like The Sims 3 traits, so there's no use in making that template. I prefer not to make individual page for each TS4 trait though, because TS4 traits are less defining than TS3 ones. And yeah, I did notice that your submission got accepted on MTS. :) Nikel Talk – Vote! 04:53, February 27, 2015 (UTC)
- I just uploaded the bonus trait, but by mistake I swtiched TS4 Trait with Trait TS4. My bad... I would rename them, but I don't have the power to rename anything. UltraGamingKid (talk) 05:06, February 27, 2015 (UTC)
- Hi! Sorry for not replying you sooner. Needless to say, I'm thankful that you were willing to upload all these images! :) So, there are several duplicate images floating around? I'll delete the duplicate images with wrong names. I wish I had replied earlier so you hadn't had to repeat the whole uploading process. Nikel Talk – Vote! 13:57, March 5, 2015 (UTC)
Mass-image uploads
Hi there. I noticed that you've uploaded a lot of images, presumably via the Special:Upload page, one at a time. Did you know that you can upload multiple images at once? You can do this using the Special:MultipleUpload page, which allows you to upload batches of files all at once, instead of tediously one by one. Let me know here if you have any questions. Thanks, --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 23:08, March 1, 2015 (UTC)
- Wow! Thanks k6Ka! I'm UltraSimKid. I did not know about that. Thanks! That will help me upload more game images. Does the batch upload include batch licensing? UltraGamingKid (talk) 23:14, March 1, 2015 (UTC)
- Apologies for the delayed response! Yes, using batch upload will allow you to add licenses to all the files you're uploading, so you don't have to worry about going back to license them. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 14:21, March 5, 2015 (UTC)
RE: Music Files
I used Audacity to edit the music files after extraction. First, I listen to the track and find a 30 second segment that I think would be suitable for a preview. I select that 30 second portion and extract it (I use the "Duplicate" option, which duplicates the selection and creates a new track. I then mute the old track so it doesn't get in the way.) I then add a one second long fade in at the beginning and a one second long fade out at the end. Then I export the selection to an MP3 file, making sure the bitrate is 64 kbps (see [1] on how to change the bitrate). I open up my exported MP3 file and change the sample format of the track to 16-bits, and then change the stereo track to mono. Finally, I export the compressed file into an OGG format, ready to be uploaded to the wiki! I know this sounds kinda daunting, but feel free to ask me if you need help. --I am k6ka Talk to me!
